NEW: v1.0.0 — Initial Release
GRNi Lite
A Free Granular Sampler You Can Play
Drop any sample on GRNi Lite and play it on your keyboard. Every note you hold grows its own cloud of grains.

One Sample, Three Controls
Drop it in, set the root, play
DENSITY
How many grains
Grains per second, from a sparse crackle to a smooth, solid cloud.
ROOT
Play it in tune
Tell GRNi Lite which note your sample is in, and the keyboard plays it in tune. Samples are almost never at C, so this is the one to set first.
SIZE
How long each grain is
Short grains sound grainy and glitchy. Long grains smooth out into pads.

Questions
How is GRNi Lite different from the full GRNi?
Lite gives you one sample, the selection on the waveform, and three controls: ROOT, DENSITY and SIZE. The full GRNi adds a second sample layer with BLEND, SCALE mode, voicing and portamento, MPE, 3 LFOs, 3 envelopes and 4 macros, a 10-slot FX rack, 52 presets and a standalone app.
Why don't I hear anything?
GRNi Lite is an instrument, so it needs two things: a sample (drop one on the waveform or click LOAD) and MIDI. Put it on an instrument or MIDI track, or click the keys at the bottom of the window to test.
What does ROOT do?
It tells GRNi Lite which note your sample is in. Set it right and the keyboard plays the sample in tune. If your sample is a D, set ROOT to D.
Will my saved sounds work if I upgrade?
Yes. GRNi Lite and GRNi read the same buffer library folder, so anything you save in Lite shows up in the full version.
Is there a standalone app?
No, Lite runs inside your DAW. The standalone app is part of the full GRNi.
Can I use it commercially?
Yes. Use it in any project, commercial or personal. No attribution required.
Do I need to sign up?
No. Download directly, no account or email required.
