Drop a Sample, Play the Grains

Drop any file on the waveform, from your drive or straight out of Splice, draw the slice you want, and play it over MIDI. Every note you hold grows its own cloud of grains from that slice.

Built for Chords

Each held note gets its own grain stream and its own little window into the sample, so a four-note chord blooms into four times the texture instead of thinning out.

Two Sample Layers

Load a second sound into layer B, then BLEND draws every grain from one layer or the other, a living crossfade a static mix knob cannot do. Each layer has its own level, pan, tune and selection.

Play in Key

SCALE mode tunes the pitch knob and the grain jitter to a scale, so scattered grains land on notes that belong together.

Voicing, Keys and Portamento

Mono, legato and poly voicing with portamento, plus a playable on-screen keyboard that runs through the same voice engine as your controller.

Modulation and Step Mode

Drag-and-drop modulation with 3 LFOs, 3 envelopes and 4 macro knobs on an XY pad, and a step sequencer for rhythmic grain patterns.

Questions

Is GRNi the same as GRN?

No. They share a grain engine but they're separate products. GRN is an effect that granulates the audio already on your track; GRNi is an instrument that granulates a sample you load and plays it over MIDI. Serials are not interchangeable.

Can I use my own samples?

That's the whole point. Drop any audio file onto the plugin, from your file browser or straight from Splice, and up to 30 seconds is kept in full, per layer.

Do presets replace my sample?

No. Presets carry engine settings only. Your samples, selections, layer levels and blend survive preset switching, so you audition the whole bank against your own material.

Does GRNi support MPE?

Yes. Per-note pitch bend (which survives into release tails), per-note pressure into level, and slide moves each note's read position through the sample. It also plays fine from any regular MIDI keyboard, or the on-screen keys.
